Continue reading →: Contemplations: Overdressed, fun-employed2020. The year that never was. As 2021 slowly introduced herself, and we ‘cheers’-ed in the tightly curfewed New Year I felt the tight grip of living life through my screen slowly suffocating me to death. I couldn’t bear to look at another social media post about ‘life in lockdown’…

Continue reading →: Crash-course: Apple tartThere’s something deeply nostalgic about this recipe – it reminds me of Sundays, winter, and comfort food, and strangely makes me miss my mom. The recipe is as follows: For the tart 3 tbsp butter 1 cup sugar 3 eggs 1 cup flour 1 tsp baking powder Pinch of salt…

Continue reading →: Crash-course: HollandaiseI used to belong to the school of thought that believed making hollandaise sauce was a difficult feat. So inaccurate is that myth that the very first I made it, it was actually a success and that speaks volumes considering I am no Michel Roux. The trick is patience and…

Continue reading →: Crash-course: Easy, peasy rainbow trout pastaI sometimes think my soul must be an entirely definite nationality to the rest of me because no-one can love pasta this much and have no Italian blood in them! Pasta is versatile, it can feed the masses and just like a salad when it comes to what you can…

Casseroles, curries, stews, soups, slow roasts, baked puddings – I love them all. But, if there’s one thing the warmer…

Continue reading →: Crash-course: Good, ol’-fashioned apple crumble slicesI love anything with apples in it. Apple pie, apple crumble, apple strudel, apple danishes…you name it, chances are very good if there’s an apple option on the dessert menu, I’ll go for it. There’s also something unbelievably comforting about a warm slice of apple crumble or a fresh baked…

Continue reading →: Crash-course: The ultimate ‘health’ crumpets…While I’m very quick to admit that very few health recipes come close to the tasting as good as their original, unhealthy counterparts, this one is a real banger. No sugar, no butter, no milk even and the end result is still as light, fluffy and more-ish as the original.…

Continue reading →: Circumnavigation: Please take your seat and fasten your seat belt…Oh travelling. Exotic islands, bustling cities, glorious architecture, fascinating cultures, sublime cuisine…is there any better food for the soul than curing your wanderlust through the world’s phenomenal antidote of going places and seeing things? Most probably not. But let’s call a spade a spade. While the white beaches and crystal…

Continue reading →: Contemplation: The 21 things you learn in becoming 21I wrote this piece of the eve of my 22nd birthday while I sat in bed reflecting on my ‘big year’ of being 21. I’d had high hopes and big plans that I had hoped to fulfill by the time my big year rolled round: I had planned on finding…
